Mommy’s Big Helper

Reuben and I decided to whip up some of our favorite fall snacks to celebrate the beginning of the best season of the year!  He was such a big helper and seemed to really enjoy himself!  He’s been talking about how he “help Mommy cook” for the last few days 🙂

We started with pumpkin muffins.  They are DELICIOUS and only have these 4 ingredients (that is 1/2 cup water and I use about 1/3 bag of the cinnamon chips).

Reuben wasn’t too sure about the mixer at first…

He really liked using the spatula to get the pumpkin out of the can, but Mommy had to intervene when pumpkin bits started flying.

Stirring round and round…

Bake the muffins for 10-12 minutes at 350.  They are so delicious warmed up with a little butter.  YUM!

Next, we moved on to Chex Mix.  I use the original Chex Mix recipe.  These are the ingredients we like in our version.

Reuben loved being able to pour all the dry ingredients into the bowl.  He did a great job!

More stirring round and round…

My little chef needed a turn with Mommy’s oven mitts even though Mommy was mean and wouldn’t let him get the pan out of the oven 😉  The food all over his clothes is evidence of a job well done!

So fun! I bought the ingredients for your “fall mix” the other day. I’m so glad you introduced me to that one and these pumpkin muffins look awesome. I’m going to make them tonight!

Where did you find the cinnamon chips? I’ve made this recipe into loaves before but I can’t find the chips anywhere. Clearly I am looking in the wrong places! 🙂

Lauren, I actually had these in the freezer from last year. You’re right; they are really hard to find! I usually have the best luck finding them at Food Pyramid. Hope this helps!
